Roseway Theater significantly damaged in 3-alarm fire

The Roseway Theater is significantly damaged after catching fire on Saturday, August 6. Representatives from Portland Fire & Rescue stated that the almost 100-year old building was a total loss and would need to be completely rebuilt.

Around 5:50 AM on Saturday, August 6, firefighters were called to the scene to find the 7,000-square-foot movie theater in flames. As the fire continued, two more fire alarms were called to help contain the fire and keep it from spreading. After the three calls, over 80 firefighters were on the scene managing the fire.

Fire crews used arial ladders to extinguish the flames. The fire had compromised both the floor and ceiling of the building, keeping fire personnel from entering the building on foot.

Fire crews said that most of the damage was contained to the building. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. As of right now, there have been no injuries or deaths reported due to the fire.
