These two Portland bars were named among the best in America

Two new bars can be added to your shortlist option for after-work drinks. In the past few weeks, two national publications named two different Portland bars as some of the best in the nation. Takibi was featured in Esquire’s The Best Bars in America, 2022, and Teardrop Lounge ranked in North America’s 50 Best Bars.

Takibi

Takibi (the Japanese word for bonfire) is a bar and restaurant developed by Snow Peak, an outdoor product, gear, and apparel company that centers itself around restorative experiences in nature. Snow Peak’s US headquarters developed Takibi to bring those outdoor values into the dining room, giving friends a gathering place to reconnect and appreciate the changing of the seasons.

Takibi serves Japanese-inspired cuisine and drinks in a beautiful and simple space decorated with warm wood materials and clean lines. The menu is inspired by seasonal cooking, with all of the dishes being prepared on a wood-burning hearth. Mixologist Jim Meehan manages the bar program and combines Japanese flavors with Pacific Northwest inspiration. The cocktails feature both local ingredients as well as ingredients directly from Japan. The unique integration of the two influences create spectacular offerings that can only be found here.
