Frog Ferry’s Funds Fizzle Out

Portland city commissioners declined to spend $225,000 to fund Frog Ferry, a proposed public ferry service between Portland and Vancouver. The commissioners cited that the decision was influenced by Frog Ferry’s ongoing funding stalemate with TriMet. The funding halt has stalled the project for months.

So far, TriMet has only paid the non-profit a little over 13% of the $500,000 that the Oregon Department of Transportation had allocated to the project. TriMet has accused Frog Ferry of inappropriate spending practices.

Susan Bladholm, the founder of Frog Ferry, has negated the claims, saying that the non-profit was fully transparent in their business deals and acted with integrity.

Though without the funding from the city, the future of the ferry is not promising. “We don't right now have a path forward,” Bladholm said.
